Well, the final totals came out to be: 40,772 SmugMug, 49,000 Flickr. Why they’re so different, I have no idea. I’ve been starting to organize them into Folders on SmugMug, but I see that the whole thing is quite a mess! My Flickr site has apparently been that way for quite some time, it just wasn’t as obvious until I tried to start reorganizing everything in SmugMug.
I am finding that SmugMug does have it’s quirks, so right now I’m not really sure which way to lean. One thing that annoys me the most at the moment is that SmugMug’s phone app only auto-uploads actual photos instead of every new image that gets saved to my phone. Flickr’s app auto-uploads everything. Sandy and I like that a lot, often taking screenshots of things so we can reference them later from our Flickr images.
And I like how Flickr has “Collections”: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jimsphotoworld/collections. SmugMug has “Folders”, which is much like Flickr’s Collections, but they are handled and appear differently. If Flickr could just do GIFs, I’d be pretty happy with it.
