Well, ten days left to Christmas! Saturday we put up the tree (took all but 5 minutes). It’s a 3-piece pre-lit tree we bought last year. By far the easiest setup I’ve ever gone through. Anyway, Sandy and Kevin decorated it and hung up the ornaments after I put it up. Saturday evening we went out to dinner at King Buffet, our favorite Chinese buffet restaurant, and then we took Kevin to see Santa at Regency Mall in Racine. Sunday (today) Kevin and I cleaned his room and Sandy wrapped a ton of presents. Oh, and I burned my first successful home movie onto a DVD-R disc today! It came out really nice. Unfortunately I just learned that only a few select DVD players can actually PLAY a DVD-R disc… Hopefully this ability will improve in the future. For now though I can play them on the computer just fine, but neither of our two DVD players digested the DVD very well. They play a good portion of it fine, but about two-thirds of the way through they choke and start acting very erratic. I checked the internet, and it’s a common problem with DVD-R discs, so there’s really nothing wrong except incompatibility.

PT Cruiser Block Party
Well, summer is pretty much over. The weather is cooling down and fall is in the air. We got a 2002 PT Cruiser from Frank Boucher in Racine last Christmas! Sort of a Christmas gift for Sandy and I from ourselves, except SHE gets to drive it 99% of the time… And we just got back from Chrysler’s PT Block Party last night. 4 free tickets to Great America we just couldn’t pass up! We had a great time too! Take a look. Let’s see… what else happened since my last blog… OH! Peanut’s new too! He’s our new Chihuahua puppy. Kevin’s godfather, Rich had male and female Chihuahuas and they had a litter of pups! He was nice enough to give us first pick, so we chose a male. He looked like a peanut, so that’s what we named him! We have some newborn photos of him as well as plenty of photos of him at every stage of growth up to now. He’s not full size yet, and looks a bit short and fat when he goes back to his family to visit. His twin brother Howard is much taller and skinnier, yet they say he eats like a horse! He’s doing good, but just now learning to NOT chew on everything in the house, and instead sticking mainly to his own chew toys. That’s about it for the significant stuff I think. If not, I’ll post more in the next blog entry. For a “visual” update of things more often though, be sure to check our Photo Albums page once in a while. I post photos much more often than blog entries, so you should check there first for updates. I also send regular e-mail updates to everyone who visits my site on a regular basis, so if you want to be added to the list, please let me know.
Fall wrap-up
Winter is fast approaching. We had a good Halloween. We considering skipping it this year, what with all the Terrorism and Anthrax scares going around, but then we figured Kevin is at that age (3), and we shouldn’t deprive him of all the fun. We were just more careful this time. It turned out well too–He had a blast Trick-or-Treating as “Blue” from Blue’s Clues, and loved all of the other costumes. We carved pumpkins a couple weeks before Halloween and had a lot of fun with that too. Matthew did a great job carving a Dracula Pumpkin, and I helped Kevin do his, and carved a bat pumpkin for Sandy and I. The seeds were even good! Sandy goes in for her oral surgery next week. She’ll be having all of her teeth pulled and dentures put in (6 weeks later). She’s very nervous, and not looking forward to it at all. Who would? Anyway, we also attended a nice benefit for Terry (Sandy used to care for him when she was nursing) and they raised a lot of money to get him a new van…. Pam & Louie got married!!!…. And lastly, Sandy’s cousin Debbie’s daughter Heidi had a baby girl–Jade.
Steakouts, Kevin sprouts, and vows
We’ve had a couple of our famous “SteakOuts” already this year, and it’s been fun. More are coming, and we can’t wait!
Kevin continues to sprout, and he’s talking more each day. Sometimes it’s pretty hard to shut him up at all! But it’s great fun watching the changes. Sunday we were at Dad T’s for dinner we were just sitting around doing nothing and Kevin was sitting at the end of the dining room table playing with his toys… There’s a phone at the end of the table, and suddenly it rang. Kevin immediately picked it up without hesitation and said “Hello?” Our jaws just dropped in shock! We didn’t know he knew how to answer the phone, he had never made any attempt to do this before, and he usually refuses when we ask if he wants to talk to mommy or daddy when we’re on the phone. We let him stay on for a minute, and he acted like he was actually having a conversation, but he wouldn’t say who it was for. I said “well, maybe it’s for HIM.” So we took the phone from him and talked to the caller and it was actually for Clayton I think. Anyway, that was a first for him, and it was pretty amusing for us.
We attended Mark Stricklin’s Renewal of Wedding Vows party on Saturday, May 5th. This entire party was a surprise 22nd anniversary gift for his wife, complete with the original wedding party and a new wedding ring. They even had an instant photo booth in Singapore which I used to take a bunch of pictures with the digital. Take a look.
Spring is here
Spring is here! It’s warming up off-and-on around here. In the 70’s yesterday, but extremely windy. We had a chance to wash one of the cars and go to the park with Kevin, and just spent as much of the day outside as we could. By the end of the day Kevin was exhausted and cranky. We have a lot of new photos online now, just in time for spring. They’re in an album called “Spring 2001”. You can get to them through our photo albums section or just by clicking here.
Since our last update we have switched from MSN Dial-up to RoadRunner Cable Internet. WOW, what a difference! We’re always connected now, no dialing up, and we were able to get rid of our second phone line, which was used just for the computer. This alone saved us the difference in price between MSN and RoadRunner, so it was definitely worth the price for us, especially with the overall increase in speed! I can download a 5MB MP3 in about 30 seconds, and download most programs and updates in less than a minute! We’re really happy with it. I’ve also started a comparison chart here on our site to compare the different speeds. You can see the results by clicking here, and you can test your own connection and submit your results to me by clicking here.
